

She was born November 20, 1926 in Rowan County to the late John and Nannie Williams.
A 1944 graduate of Woodleaf School, Mrs. Steele retired in 2001 after 28 years as a cosmetology educator.
She was a lifetime member of South River United Methodist Church, where she was also active in many areas of her church as her health permitted.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Nathan Steele, on March 26, 1993 and her second husband, William “Bill” Kesler on April 24, 2008. Also preceding her is one daughter-in-law, Shelby Steele in 2008 and eight brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joel Steele, Rene Atwell (Barry) and Tina Aistrop (Mike); seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at South River United Methodist Church on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The service celebrating Mrs. Steele’s life will begin at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Randy Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
