She was born December 25, 1938, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Vander and Mozelle Parks Mahaffey. She was retired owner and operator of B & H Cleaning Service.
She is survived by four children, Curtis Moore, Sharon Smith, Karen Steve, and Anita Moore; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; and five brothers.
Funeral service celebrating Helen’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 18, 2015, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Parks officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service and burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence from 2:00 to 6:00 PM Monday, August 17, 2015.
