

Born in Iredell County on January 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Claude N. Wyatt and Nora Mayberry Wyatt.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Coyet Wyatt and Glenn Wyatt; two sisters, Toy Manning, and Ethel Nance; and one son-in-law, Larry Smith.
Mr. Wyatt attended Cool Springs School and retired from Southern Screw Company. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Hilton loved Bluegrass music and was talented to play most any stringed instrument.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II from 1943-1946.
On April 2, 1946, he married his sweetheart, Louise Freeze Wyatt, who survives. From their union they had one daughter, Nancy Cain (Ray) of Statesville; two granddaughters, Sandra Smith Wimpy (Dale) and Gina Smith Frye (Dan) and six great-grandchildren, Jake Frye, Baylee Frye, Ana Wimpy, Dima Wimpy, Micah Wimpy, and Natalie Wimpy. He is also survived by two sisters, Beulah Swicegood and Marie Chapman.
The funeral service honoring Mr. Wyatt’s life will be held Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Ervel Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will speak to friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
