Homer Wayne White

Mr. White was born May 22, 1944 in Washington, DC to the late Homer William and Margaret Estelle White.

Homer was a member of Payne Memorial United Methodist Church in Cumberland, VA and recently come to live with his daughter in Cleveland, NC.

Homer attended schools in Washington, DC and High School in Roanoke and Harrisburg, VA.

Homer joined the US Navy where he proudly served his country in Jacksonville, FL.

Homer attended college in the electrical field and Retired after 33 years of service from the Department of Corrections in Powhatan, VA, as a Maintenance Supervisor.

Homer is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marjorie Walker White of Cumberland, VA; one daughter Sandra Edwards (Keith) of Cleveland, NC, two sons, Leo V. White (Dawn) of Mt. Ulla, NC and Stephen P. Case (Stacy) of Salisbury, NC; one sister, Laura B. Davis (Jim) of Hughesville, MD and many nieces and nephews and 10 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren all of Cleveland and Salisbury, NC.

Homer enjoyed being around his family, hunting, fishing, and creating and repairing items in his garage. He spent many hours helping others whenever and wherever they needed him. He liked the Washington Redskin football team.

The family will receive friends at Morning Star Baptist Church, 175 Young Mountain Road Cleveland, NC on Friday evening, November 7, 2014 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A service celebrating Homer’s life will be held at Morning Star Baptist Church in Cleveland N.C. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ron Young, Pastor Darrell Worley and Pastor Wesley Morris, officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury, NC.

The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to: Payne Memorial UMC Cumberland, VA, Morning Star Baptist Church Cleveland, NC, New Hope Baptist Church Salisbury, NC, Ostwalt Baptist Church Troutman, NC or Gordon’s Hospice House Statesville, NC.
