Ina Jolly Myers, 90, went home to be with her Lord on June 25, 2012. She was the last surviving child of Isaac and Molly Jane Johnson Jolly. She will be met at Heaven’s Gate by her only true love, Burlie Preston Myers, who died in 1981. Joining in on that glorious reunion will be her sons Douglas Lee Myers, who died in 1981 and Jessie James Myers who died in 1983.
Her children were blessed to have her for a mother. She taught her children with love and an occasional switch. Her generation of children knew there is no greater love that a Godly Mother. Ina was never without a smile that lifted your spirits when things were bad.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie and husband Mack Eller of Thomasville, their daughter Anna Hinkle and husband Eric and their twin daughters Maddie and Emma; son Dean Myers and wife Shelley of Spruce Pine and their daughters Heather Myers and Sarah Bennett and husband Ken and great grandchild Gabriel; son Randy and wife Carol of Union Grove and sons, Preston and James, who are serving their country in the Army and EOD, daughter Marsha and sons Dylan and Connor. Late son Doug’s son Tracy and wife Angela and their children Ashley, Kelsie, Shenna & Alan and Shenna’s children Brice & Jaden and Tracy’s mother Isabel of Union Grove. Late son Jessie’s daughter Lora and husband Keith and their daughter Jessica and Lora’s mother Louise of Wilkesboro. She also leaves behind her loving companion, Hawk and extended family of foster children, including a special foster daughter Nora Martin.
Ina worked hard all her life. She was busy in tobacco, cotton or collecting eggs. She never liked indoor work, except cooking wonderful meals for her family, friends or whoever dropped in at mealtime. She was at her best in the garden and putting up canned goods for the winter. A homemaker or farmer doesn’t describe the duties she faithfully accomplished each and every day of her 90 years. Ina with a third grade education, accomplished more in her lifetime than many who graduated from college. Ina was from the “depression era”, and knew the value of hard, honest work. She will forever be in the hearts of those who love her.
Services celebrating Ina’s life are scheduled for Friday, June 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Rev. R. C. Redmond, Rev. Jerry Wallace and Rev. Gary Blalock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
Condolences may be sent to the family online to www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.com. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Mrs. Ina Myers.
