James "Buddy" Duke Harris Sr.

He was born January 19, 1925, in Iredell County, and was the son of the late Lola “Lowell” and Eva Lackey Harris. He retired from the U.S. Navy after twenty years of service and later retired from General Electric Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Harris and the Rev. Tom Harris.

Buddy is survived by four children, James Harris, Jr. (Dee), Sherry Harris Moser (Greg), Sandra Harris and Michael Harris, all of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Kern (Mark) of Maiden, Jason Klaver of Conover, Matthew Ester of Taylorsville, and Nicole Harris of Taylorsville; two sisters, Catherine Lambert of Conover and Shirley Moore (Curtis) of Statesville; and a brother, the Rev. Robert “Bob” Harris (Joyce) of Statesville.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Pisgah United Methodist Church, Stony Point, with the Rev. Robert Harris and the Rev. Terry Moore officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday at the church prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites being accorded by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
