

James Kenneth Grant died Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Iredell County, April 27, 1943, the son of the late Fred Kenneth and Martha Trivette Grant. Also preceding him in death was a brother Jackie Wayne Grant who died June13, 2016.
He was a graduate of Harmony High School and on July 1, 1961 he married the love of his life, Lounell Mitchell Grant who survives of the home. Also surviving are daughters Tamera and husband Don Wright, Carmel and husband Willie Norman, grandchildren, Ayla Brie Stevenson and Grant William Stevenson.
Ken went to school learning to be a computer programer before computers were cool. Thecomputer itself would fill an entire room at that time. He did this while the girls were comingalong and medical insurance was so important. However, he did not enjoy being inside allday, he drove the mail truck for US Postal Service for a few years and then studied to bea Realtor and Auctioneer. He owned and operated Homestead Realty and Pioneer AuctionCo. since the early 1980's. Ken was a people person and so enjoyed every day of this. He was the 'Homesteader' and loved fishing in salt water and won many tournaments.
A celebration of Ken's life will be held at the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home at 4 p.m. on Sunday August, 7, 2016, with the Rev. R. Howard Wagoner officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will follow in the Grant Family Cemetery in Harmony, at the family home.

He was our matriach and in 2012 he started building a home for his family. 4 months into the process the doctors discovered he had cancer and he has been fighting valiantly since that time.
