He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lena Ladd; daughters, Lena Diane Vestal (Tim), and Rebecca Gaye Ladd; son, James Junior Ladd; grandchildren, Melissa Hall Childress, Desiree Starr Flowers, Tabitha Sue James, Timothy Ray Thompson, and Anthony Brent Thompson; and 12 great grandchildren.
James was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Hamptonville, NC.
A visitation for James will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2616 Buck Shoals Road, Hamptonville, NC, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
