

James Frederick Moore, 97 of Statesville went home to be with the Lord Saturday February 18, 2017 at Brookdale Peachtree Assisted Living. Born in Mountain City, TN on February 10, 1920, he was the son of the late James William Moore and Gertie Grier Moore.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy Ella Jordan Moore in 2015 and many siblings.
James proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. During the war, Fred served in the Pacific Stage. He survived and avoided capture while being surrounded by the Japanese. The Allied Forces broke through and rescued Fred and his unit and at this point he was only 90 pounds. James was a hard worker and a Godly man and retired from Southern Screw Co. after many years of employment. He was also a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, Statesville.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Kenneth Moore, Albert Moore and his wife Wanda; his daughters, Carol Moore Massey and her husband Bobby, Kay Moore Hefner; his brothers, James J. Moore and his wife Ruth and George Moore; his sisters, Mary Carter, Cora Curlee and her husband Harry and Addie Marlowe; his 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm pm at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, 705 Davie Ave., Statesville. Funeral Services will be celebrated on Thursday 3pm at New Prospect Baptist Church with the burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
