

Mr. James Colan Moose, 78, of 114 S. Oak St. Statesville, died Saturday at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Alexander County on January 27, 1932, he was a son of the late William C. Moose and Annie Dagenhart Moose. Mr. Moose formerly worked for Douglas Aircraft, City Parts Company in counter sales, and drove a wrecker for Bill Sumers for 18 years. He served his country during the Korean War in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of First A.R.P. Church and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Tom Moose.
On May 24, 1957, he married the former Linda Elliott, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Danny Moose and a daughter, Lynn M. Harr and her husband, Billy Harr, Jr. all of Statesville. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jaime Moose Gassner, Amanda Michelle Moose, and Timothy James Harr. Additional survivors include three brothers: Carl Moose of Salisbury, David Moose and Dwight Moose both of Stony Point, and six sisters: Mrs. Vera Stevenson of Taylorsville, Mrs. Jeanette Siceloff of Statesville, Mrs. Loretta Christie of Troutman, Mrs. Wilma Nash of Statesville, Mrs. Sylvia Brewer of Taylorsville and Mrs. Debra Byers of Statesville.
Services celebrating Mr. Moose's life will be conducted at 11:00 Wedenesday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens with full military rites presented by members of the burial detail of the Iredell County Veterans Council. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
