Born on October 13, 1936 in Broughty Ferry, Scotland, he was the son of the late John Fleming and Jesse Souter Fleming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Stewart Fleming; his brother, Stewart Fleming, and his sister, Iris Fleming.
John proudly served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the United Kingdom. In 1975, John and his loving wife Jean moved to North Carolina. John worked as a mechanical engineer and director at Hunt Manufacturing in Statesville for over 20 years. He loved and was excellent at golf. He was also a fan of football and steak pie. He was a proud Mason for many years.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 57 years, Geraldine Jean Fleming; son, Grant John Fleming and wife, Elizabeth; grandson; Caidan Fleming, and life-long family friends, Daniel and Betty Earp.
A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Monday, June 10 at 4:00 p.m. There will be an informal gathering of friends following the service.
