Joshua Alan Waugh, 37, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 16, 2021, in Savannah, GA.

He was born on June 16, 1983 to Gregory and Linda Campbell Waugh. He was employed by South Creek Trucking as a heavy machine hauler, a job he loved and he was considered one of the best. Josh enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, fishing with his children, going to dirt tracks, but most of all just hanging with friends and family.

On April 26, 2019, Josh married the most beautiful and loving wife, Tabitha Oakley Waugh. His family grew from 3 children to 5 and loved them all the same. He was overjoyed. Not "yours" or "mine", only "ours".

Josh had such an amazing personality and he showed that by his smiles, laughter, pranks (you knew that by those twinkling brown eyes he was up to something). He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sylvleen Elliott, who is holding on to him tightly.

In addition to his parents and wife, Josh is survived by his children, Jacob, Maggie, Natalie, Gage and Elizabeth, paternal grandparents Arthur and Dixie Waugh, uncles and aunts Becky Tayse (Jay), Wayne Campbell, Jeff Waugh, Cheri Caldwell (Greg), Lori Hobbs (Steve), Kathy Leonard and Lisa Duke (Andy). Extended family includes cousins, great aunts and friends, who through Josh's love became family.

The family will speak to friends Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at The Cove Church - Statesville Campus, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1:00 PM.

This truly breaks my heart! Josh was such a sweet kid! He was part of the ones who were childhood friends with my son, Jason. Him and the others were always around the house growing up. I was use to being the house all the kids were at. It was actually a good feeling knowing the kids wanted to come over all the time, comforting knowing they felt safe. And they never acted up or did things they shouldn't. LOUD at times but that's to be expected! They played a LOT of basketball at the house! 😁 He was part of the friends of my son that helped my daughter Amber become a tough young lady! Ha! She had to be as tough as they were she thought! Lol We, (Jason, Amber & I) did not know of Josh's passing until after the funeral. I'm can't imagine the void he leaves but I know that he grew up to be a wonderful man. I could tell from the kid I use to talk to and listen to while he was around. The many times he'd spend the night with Jason and being around the house. Always smiling and cutting up! Picking on Amber like the others, just in fun.
Special prayers to his mom as losing a child is unimaginable! May our Lord wrap his loving, healing arms around you ALL as you learn to move forward . Again, I'm so sorry for your loss! God bless.

From the moment anyone saw Josh and Tab together it was obvious they were completely in love. Josh quickly became the man that we all compared our men to. Every single day he did all he could to make my sister feel like the most beautiful, and majestic creature in the entire universe. There are no words to describe how grateful I am for his presence in her life. He will always be the man that changed her life forever and gave me my sister back. He showed her enough love, and happiness in the time they were together to last her, and all of their children a lifetime.

I loving memory of Josh. You were a great man. The day Jacob was born you were wearing your Superman shirt and you said he was going to be your kryptonite. You would sleep with him on your chest when he was a baby. When Gage was born the first thing you said wow look at how big his hands are. You used to put him in front of you on the motorcycle and right around the yard as a baby. When elizabeth was born you are so nervous and excited to have a little girl. You walked around buying little girl stuff and owing and awing at it all. The day you finally got your CDLs you were so excited you worked so hard for them. You'll be greatly missed a life gone too soon.

I remember one of the first times i met josh, it was at a race track. At the time, i was sick. I hadn’t eaten in a while until that morning. Once the race had started, everything i ate came back up. But instead of making fun of my or holding it against me, he offered to go to the movies, or simply go home. this is just one example of what an amazing person and dad Josh was to us.

I have known this young man since he was in middle school. He had a great laugh and the cutest dimples!
His mother is one of my dearest friends. My heart breaks for the entire family.
My deepest sympathy to Josh's family and friends! May God give you all the peace that passes understanding.
