Joycelyn Parks Dalton

Joycelyn Parks Dalton, 81, of Harmony, North Carolina, departed this life Sunday, July 26, 2026 at her home. She was born in Iredell County on February 7, 1945 to the late Rayford and Mary Dollie Cowan Parks.

She attended Houstonville Elementary School, and was a graduate of Unity High School, and Apex Beauty College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In 1963 she was joined in marriage to Arnold Ray Dalton, Sr. She worked at Harmony Elementary School as a school teachers aide, and as a bus driver. She also worked with Graham Funeral Home, and was the owner of Joyce's Beauty Shop.

At an early age she joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, kitchen committee president, served on the usher board, and wherever was needed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Ray Dalton, Sr, one son, Arnold Ray Dalton, Jr., one brother David Parks, and sisters Mary Elizabeth Nichols, Alma Cunningham, a special sister Rosialyn Steele, and son in law John R. Daniels, Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Lori Comelita Chambers (Donald), Paula Renea Daniels, one son Ronald Neil Dalton, one sister Katie Holmes. Five Grandchildren, DuJuan Chambers, Christina Hoffman, Shaneil Dalton, Tyra Morgan, and Donaya Chambers. Sixteen Great-Grandchildren, Ian, Liv Rayna, Lex, Ely, Max, Koa, Jah'kari, Johnny, Cheyanne, Jamal, Landon, Koda, Creed, Kaiden, Gianna, and Noah. A special friend Helene Hildebrandt, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, church family, and other Relatives and Friends.

The family of Joyce will host a Family Visitation on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Harmony beginning at 11:30 AM. A Homegoing Celebration will follow in the sanctuary of Mt. Nebo Baptist, beginning at 12:00 PM. Joyce will be laid to rest, immediately following the service, in the Parks Cemetery at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
