Junior LeRoy Pearson

Mr. Junior LeRoy Pearson, 87, of 424 Faye St. Statesville, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Autumn Care of Statesville. Born in Iredell County on January 31, 1926, he was a son of the late Calvin James Pearson and Ruth Naomi Sharpe Pearson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie Childers Pearson and brothers: Kenneth Calvin Pearson and J. D. Pearson and sisters, Melzie Pearson Mitchum, Anlue Pearson Little and Irene Pearson Jenkins. Mr. Pearson was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and retired from the City Of Statesville Parks & Recreation Department. Prior to working for the city, he worked at Statesville Packing Company and served his country in the U. S. Navy. For 27 years, he worked the chains at the Statesville High School football games.

He is survived by a sister, Bobbie Mahaffey of Statesville and several nieces and nephews.

Services celebrating Mr. Pearson's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman with Rev. Thomas Corbell officiating. He will lie in state at the church, in the sanctuary, while the family receives friends in the fellowship hall from 1:15 until the funeral hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
