Korene Scully Maynard

Korene Scully Maynard, 66, of Statesville, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026. She was born in Polk County, Minnesota on February 25, 1960 to the late Roy Rudolph Scully and Mertle Sterger Scully.

Korene loved spending time with her dogs, Jesse and Maggie, and her cat, Oliver. She also enjoyed going to the beach and watching NASCAR. She had a green thumb and loved the sound of wind chimes. Most of all, she was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, and in her eyes, they were always undefeated.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Steve Maynard; daughters, Christina Spencer of San Antonio, Texas, Jacquelyn Chester (Phillip) of Gilbert, South Carolina, and Jennifer Negron of Statesville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kaedynce Negron, Bryan Gartin, Braedon Spencer, Andrew Chester, and Emily Chester; sister, Karen Hagin; bonus daughter, Clairissa; and bonus grandkids, Elijah and Gemma.

Korene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Daniel Duquette, Dale Scully, and Duane Scully; and her sister, Kathryn Swenson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, with Pastor Wes Sink officiating. Interment will follow.
