Larry Gordon Davidson

A native of Iredell County, Larry was born and raised in Troutman, North Carolina, the son of the late Thomas Roy Davidson, Sr. and Annie Bell Lackey Davidson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Roy Davidson, Jr., Jimmie Van Davidson, and Roy Lee Davidson; and by his sisters, Vallie Mae Oglesby and Emma Jean Campbell.

Larry was a 1970 graduate of South Iredell High School. Known for his love of fishing, tinkering, and “scrapping,” Larry was a true handyman who found joy in fixing and repurposing anything he could get his hands on. He was also an avid fan of westerns and science fiction television shows.

A humble, gentle giant, Larry was quiet in words but loud in action. He had a gift for people-watching and an even greater gift for helping others. He was the kind of man who made sure everyone else was taken care of, and he did it without seeking recognition.

Larry was also known for his sweet tooth—particularly fond of honeybuns, circus peanuts, and cherry pie. After being diagnosed with his final illness, his words, “I love Jesus and Jesus loves me,” brought and continue to bring great comfort to his family. His faith was quiet but unwavering, and he lived a life that reflected it.

Larry is survived by his beloved sister, Barbara Susan Davidson of Troutman, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

In accordance with his wishes, no public services will be held. Larry would want his loved ones to spend time with each other, sharing stories, laughter, and love.
