

Born July 1, 1931 in Iredell County, he was the son to the late Ruben Wooten and Betty Johnson Martin. Lonnie was a loving and caring husband, father and "Paw". His pride and joy were his grandchildren. He was retired from Southern Railway. He was the founder and owner of L. R. Wooten Construction and known for his hard dedicated work. Nothing excited him more than getting ready to pour a slab of concrete at 3am. Lonnie was a member of Bethlehem UMC for over 60 years.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Reece Wooten.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Nancy Watt Wooten; three daughters, Freda (Jerry) Alford, Debbie (Jim) Dagenhart and Patsy (Gary) Beach; grandchildren, Sara (Greg) Waugh, Doug Dagenhart, David (Megan) Dagenhart, Hannah (Jeremy) Roberts and Caleb Dagenhart; great-grandchildren, Kate Elizabeth Waugh, Luke Ruben Waugh and Asa Duncan Dagenhart; sisters, Mildred Price and Betty Wilson; sister-in-law, Peggy Wooten; brother-in-law, Tom Watt and many other loving family members and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3pm at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:30pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 in the Wooten-Watt Christian Life Center at Bethlehem UMC.
