Lucille Dollie Shaver

Lucille was born December 11, 1924, in Iredell County to the late Fred F. and Nora Jurney Shaver whom she spent many years caring for during their later years. She was a lifelong resident of Olin and was a loving aunt to six nieces and three nephews. Her spiritual faith played an important part in her life and she was a devoted member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for many years.

Lucille, who attended Iredell County Schools, touched many lives in the Olin community where she worked as an Avon representative for forty-five years. She also retired as an employee of Jurney’s Residential Care of Olin.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Treva Rash (J.W. Jr.), Lorene Grubbs (Gene) and Irene Alexander (York), and seven brothers: Floyd (Ida), Wade (Ethel), Haskel (Hazel), Clay (Sallie), Carl (Ozelle), Ralph (Gill) and Albert (Ruth) Shaver.

Services celebrating Lucille’s life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Dancy III officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She will lie in state in the sanctuary from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service. The family will greet friends during this time in the church chapel (the old sanctuary).
