Lucy Maude Kyles Padgett, 102, of Statesville, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at Maple Leaf Health Care.

Born in Alexander County on November 4, 1917, Lucy was the daughter of the late George Lambert and Minnie Echerd Lambert. She was the foster daughter of James and Mary Belle Kyles.

On August 17, 1940, she married Coleman Padgett and began to raise their family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband on January 5, 1993; one son, Jerry Padgett on August 21, 2005 and two brothers, Silas Lambert and Paul Echerd. Lucy retired from Mark Industries, where she worked as an inspector and was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church, where she attended until her health began to decline.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jo Anne (Wayne) Ledbetter and David (Kaye) Padgett; daughter-in-law, Roberta Padgett and seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Rodney McAllister. Burial will follow at Cleveland Town Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 225 Morgan Street Troutman, NC 28166.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Maple Leaf and to Dr. Carla Pence for their exceptional care and love shown to Mrs. Padgett and their family.

My Mom Verla loved Miss Lucy and enjoyed being her roommate at Maple Leaf. She was such a Sweet Lady and I will always remember our little conversations reminiscing old memories she had. So sorry for your loss.
