Mamie Estelle Bustle

Estelle was born in Wilkes County, on February 15, 1942, to the late Robert Troutman Johnson and Elsie Dowell Johnson.

Estelle was married to the love of her life, the late Bobby Gene Bustle, who preceded her in death on April 30, 2017. She also has 2 babies waiting for her in Heaven, Timothy Mark Bustle and Lena Gene Bustle. Also preceded in death are brothers, Larry Johnson and Rev. Robert Junior Johnson.

Estelle loved God, and her family, more than anything. She led a full life from riding motorcycles with her husband, to fishing in the ocean, to camping, to spending weekends at the lake. Not only did she enjoy life, she also worked hard. She worked in several factories, ran a trucking terminal in South Carolina, worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital as a CNA, and owned and operated a rental business with her husband.

She absolutely loved gardening and her yard was always kept meticulous. She would always support her family, and she was a prayer warrior who loved reading her Bible. Although she lost her ability to communicate the last 5 years of her life, we never saw her eat a meal without bowing her head and blessing her food. We didn’t know what she was saying, but God did. She loved to play her imaginary piano in the morning at the breakfast table, and sing while she was waiting on her food. She was always pleasant in a situation where most people could have had the opportunity to be very angry.

She was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and sang in the choir for many years. She also attended Christ Alive Church in Newton, NC. She was also a member of The Eastern Star, and the Red Hats Club.

Those left to cherish her memory, and will miss her greatly, are her daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Bill Carlson; grandson, Brandon (Hollie) Pharr, and children, Zakary and Zetta; granddaughter, Sarah (Shane) Beauchamp, and children, Faith and Logan; brother, Roger Johnson; and sisters, Margaret Patterson, Alvina Wilcox, and Joann Navedo.

We will miss you so much but we have comfort knowing you are with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Until we meet again.

Visitation for Estelle will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Barbara Potter, Pastor Amanda Chatman, and Pastor Gloria Privette officiating. Burial will follow at the Taylor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
