Margaret Ruth Waldrop McNeely

She was born October 16, 1934, in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Chapman Waldrop. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and a devoted homemaker and mother. She was a porcelain doll enthusiast and enjoyed ceramics, bowling, and overseas travels. She was also an avid UNC Tarheel basketball fan with a vast knowledge of players, coaches and stats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on December 17, 1984, by her husband, Bennie McNeely, whom she married on May 14, 1954; and two brothers, Edwin and Robert Waldrop.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Guibault (Mike) of Ft. Mill, SC, and Donna Laney (David) of Statesville; two sons, Ron McNeely (Stephanie) of Canton, GA, and Joe McNeely (Earlene) of Statesville; twelve grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services celebrating Margaret’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Tuesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
