Margo Diana Barry

Margo was born on December 1, 1950, to William Eugene Atwood and Emma Jane Harrison Atwood, in Fairfax, Virginia. Later, the family moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she, and her three siblings, grew up.

In her personal life, Margo was a wonderful mother to two boys, a devoted Grammy, a caring daughter, and a committed friend.

She moved to Statesville, North Carolina, to be closer to her mother and other family. Around that time, she was diagnosed with, and conquered, cancer.

She enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, Thor, and with her family in North Carolina and Georgia. She also enjoyed doting on her grandkids, traveling with her friends, and her hobbies, including woodcarving, and gardening.

In her professional life, she was a human resources manager for many years, mostly in Kansas City, Missouri, and Atlanta, Georgia, working with several large corporations, and eventually starting her own business doing the same. In her retirement, she worked as a clerk at the Gwinnett County Courthouse.

She is survived by her mother, Emma Jane Inman, her oldest son, Kevin Barry (Hannah), and their children, Evelyn, Owen, and Madalyn. She is also survived by her youngest son, Daniel Barry (Brooke); brother, William Atwood (Robin); sister, Deborah Workman (Rick); sister-in-law, Rosalie Atwood; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Margo was preceded in death by her father; husband, David Barry; and brother, Robert Atwood.

A Celebration of Life for Margo will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at 908 Davie Ave, Unit D, Statesville, NC 28677.
