Marlene Harwell Moening

She was born August 24, 1943, in Iredell County, and was the daughter of Margaret Cook Harwell and the late James G. Harwell. Prior to her disability retirement, she was a nurse at Davis Regional Hospital and Iredell Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, art and painting, and dancing. She also was a sports fan and especially enjoyed racing.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard G. Moening, whom she married on August 29, 1959; her mother, Margaret C. Harwell; and two special aunts, Wilma Fox and Mary Baker, all of Statesville.

Memorial services celebrating Marlene’s life will be held at 6:00 PM Saturday, April 17, 2010, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with her cousins, Mr. Mike Barnette and Mr. Keith Stallings officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday immediately following the service at the funeral home.
