Mary Ann’s life was marked by devotion expressed in steady, everyday ways—through the care she gave, the time she offered, and the gentle presence so many came to rely on. She spent her working years serving families in the Iredell County Public Schools as a Teacher's Assistant and Bus Driver, bringing patience and kindness to the routines that shape a child’s day.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Howard Lindsey Milstead.
Faith and fellowship were important to Mary Ann. She was a loving member of Temple Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed being part of the Jolly 60's group—places where her warmth and quiet steadiness found a natural home.
In her free time, Mary Ann loved playing dominoes, and she especially enjoyed sitting on the porch at the beach while watching the ocean with her brothers families. Above all, she adored her grandchildren, who lovingly called her MeMaw—a name that carried the tenderness she gave so freely.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Lee Holland; her mother, Ruby Pearl Hawkins Holland; and an infant son, known only to God.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith Milstead (Lori) of Statesville, North Carolina; her daughter, Marie Milstead Sigmon (David); her brothers, Paul Holland of Salisbury, North Carolina, and Billy Holland (Katherine) of Morganton, North Carolina; and her grandchildren, Lindsey Moore (Ethan) and Aaron Milstead.
