Mary Elder Russell

Mrs. Mary Elder Russell, 73, of 172 Clements Rd. Statesville, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Davis Regional Medical Center. Born in Iredell County on March 20, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Elder and Mabel Sprinkle Elder. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Johnny, Jake and Robert Elder and a sister, Mrs. Maude Cline. Mrs. Russell formerly worked at Intercraft Industries and enjoyed yard work, cleaning, shopping and her cats, Sassy and Smokey.

She is survived by her husband, Jerald Wayne Russell, a son, Danny James of Huntersville, two daughters, Tammie Wilhelm and her husband, Jimmy and Debbie Tucker and her husband, Ricky all of Statesville, along with a step son, James Thomas Russell also of Statesville. Also surviving are 2 brothers, James Elder of Statesville and Esker Elder of Stony Point and 3 sisters, Mrs. Louise Haire, Mrs. Peggy Parker and Mrs. Helen Moore all of Statesville, 2 grandchildren, Shana and Travis Wilhelm and 2 step grandchildren.

Services celebrating Mrs. Russell's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday March 16th at the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Young officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Entombment will take place with a commital service at 11:00 Monday at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
