Melvin Gray Compton

He was a born August 29, 1937, in Iredell County and was the son of the late Robert and Ada Christy Compton. Mr. Compton was a retired truck driver after over 40 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister: Barbara Ingram.

He is survived by his wife the former Patty Goodin; a daughter, Kathy C. Nunez (Albert) of Statesville; two grandchildren, Kendra McLain (Matt) and Shaina Pearce (Scooter) both of Statesville; two brothers, Pete Compton (Irene) of Statesville and Joe Compton (Martha) of Union Grove; two sisters, Louise Johnson (Charles) and Betty Menscer both of Statesville; and a great-granddaughter who is due in September.

Funeral services celebrating Mr. Compton's life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Friendship United Methodist Church with the Rev. Holly Cobb Adams and the Rev. Robert Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
