Mildred "Puddin" Maxine Bost, 77, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Statesville, North Carolina. Mildred was born on August 11, 1949, in Iredell County, North Carolina, to the late Cecil Bost and Helen Lackey Bost.
She received her formal education at Morningside School in Statesville, North Carolina. Mildred was employed by Petco Sackner in Newton, North Carolina, for many years until her retirement.
Mildred was a faithful member of Gethsemane Church in Newton, North Carolina, until relocating to Statesville in 2014. After moving, she attended Marable Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Kannapolis, North Carolina, alongside her devoted cousins, Sadie and Craven McCoy.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her son, Horace Bost, Jr. ("Smurf") of Newton, North Carolina, her godson, Shawn Lewis Whittenburg, Jr.; her aunt, Frances Carner; her dedicated cousins, Sadie (Craven) McCoy, Martha Dye, John Lewis Whittenburg, Michael Woods, Bonita Woods, and Donald Woods; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all of Mildred's doctors, caregivers, friends, and loved ones for the care, kindness, and support shown to her throughout her life.
Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Ms. Bost will Lie in Repose at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm.
A Graveside Service will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 2:30 pm. where Ms. Bost will be laid to rest. Christopher Daniels will officiate.
