Nancy Elaine Smith Steele

She was born April 25, 1951, in Statesville and was the daughter of the late Jesse Cleveland and Montez White Smith. She was receiving manager at Wal-Mart of Statesville for 24 years. She loved her grandbabies and her Wal-Mart buddies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on December 13, 2013, by her husband, Leonard Lee Steele, whom she married March 9, 1973; and a sister, Debbie Yvonne Smith.

She is survived by a daughter, Tori Steele (Johnny) White; two grandchildren, Kinley and Anna White; two step-grandchildren, Alexis and Kayla White, all of Dobson; three sisters, Sylvia Smith Cates of High Point, Beverly Smith (Doug) Kappler of Raleigh, and Sheila Smith (Kevin) Boggs of Statesville; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Nathan) Trivette of East Bend; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 24, 2015, at Iredell Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randy Parish officiating.

There will be no formal visitation but the family will receive friends at the residence.
