

He was born July 20, 1925, in Winston-Salem and was the son of the late O. G. and Hilda Wright Reavis. He graduated from the R. J. Reynolds High School of Winston-Salem and served in the U. S. Marines in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Bob Burns Sunday School Class for over 50 years. He was also a former member and past president of the Statesville Kiwanis Club, former member of the Statesville Country Club having served on the Board, was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Statesville and Oasis Shrine of Charlotte for over 50 years, and a former member and Director of Statesville Chamber of Commerce. He has also been a very active member of the Statesville Arts & Science Museum, the Iredell County Fair Association and the American Legion.
His hobbies included golf and hunting, along with participating in sports and scout activities with his two sons during their growing years.
He was formerly employed with Pump and Tank Shop of Greensboro and retired after many years as a sales representative of Exxon Mobil.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Olin G. Reavis, James Reavis and John Reavis.
On October 30, 1948, he married Rochelle “Pat” Mikels, and they came to Statesville where he became very active in many church and community activities.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven G. Reavis of Pompano Beach, FL, and Michael G. Reavis (Karen) of Huntersville; four grandchildren, Gray E. Reavis and Kelly M. Reavis of Charlotte, Tyler G. Reavis and Derek A. Reavis of Wilmington; a brother, Jack Reavis of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Mary Reavis of Winston-Salem and Louise Sears of Kernersville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Porter officiating. The family will receive friends in Adams Hall immediately following the services. Private interment will precede the service in Oakwood Cemetery.
Gray Reavis, Tyler Reavis, Derek Reavis, Randy Reavis, Jeff Reavis, and Donald Parks will serve as pallbearers and members of the Bob Burns Sunday School Class and Frank Svoboda will serve as honorary pallbearers.
