Patricia "Pat" Lois Porter

She was born September 27, 1929, in Casper, Wyoming, and was the daughter of the late Bruce Guy and Sarah Anne Asay Lynch. She retired from Cool Spring School after many years of service and was an active member of Cool Spring United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and volunteered for VBS. She enjoyed birds, flowers, traveling and puzzles. Pat’s greatest pride was her family, and she will always be remembered as the ultimate Christmas Grandma.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on July 1, 1990, by her husband, Ralph Edison Porter, whom she married on December 5, 1951; a sister, Nina L. Valdez; and a brother, Bobby Darrell Lynch.

Pat is survived by a daughter, Sheryl Engel of Spokane, WA; two sons, Roger E. Porter (Sharon) of Wright, WY and Bruce A. Porter (Theresa) of Statesville; and five grandchildren, Russ Porter (Katie) of Anchorage, AK, Seth Porter of Wright, WY, Luke Porter (Ashley) and Kyle Porter, both of Statesville, and Teri Engel of Spokane, WA.

Funeral services celebrating Pat’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 1, 2011, at Cool Spring United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
