

He was born July 2, 1921, in Jerusalem and was the son of the late Ishaq and Rifca Chagourieh Sahhar. He was a retired accountant and a member of First Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon, president of the Young Men’s Bible Class, and treasurer. He was also a volunteer with Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County and the American Red Cross.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Kutteh Sahhar, whom he married on May 9, 1954; a daughter, Fadia Belch and her husband, West, and their children, Alex and Allison, of Chapin, SC; three sons, Samir Sahhar and his wife, Nene, and their children, Lani, Kathy, Michael, Jennifer, Orlando, Matthew, and Troy, of Richmond, VA, Fady Sahhar and his wife, Ellen, and their children, Adam and Mandy, of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Ouss Sahhar and his children, Ellis Anne and Patricia, of Winston-Salem; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eleven siblings.
Memorial service celebrating Peter’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Stephen Scott officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship room.
