Raymond Lee Cornett Jr., of Statesville, NC, passed peacefully in his home on December 1, 2021. He was born in Watauga Co, NC, on February 2, 1928. He is the son of the late Raymond Sr., and Marcia Norma James Cornett.
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Jean Townsend of Boone, NC, his parents, son; Glenn Cornett; and five siblings.
Raymond is survived by four sons; Richard Cornett(Jeffrey), Steve Cornett(Becky), Tony Cornett(Melissa), Gary Cornett(Wanda); 10 grandchildren;13 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Hazel Wingard, Roger Cornett(Jeanette), Linda Wilson(Roger), Carol Manzel(Chuck).
Raymond was a dedicated truck driver, who enjoyed watching westerns, mowing his lawn, gardening, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank special care givers, Donna Wallace and Ashley Cornett for the love and compassion they gave to Mr. Cornett.
A lie-in-state will be held at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, from 12-5 pm. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 1 pm at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Rev. Chuck Bristle is officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Central Assembly of God Church, 170 Assembly Dr. Boone NC 28607.
