Rhonda Lazenby Painter, 58, of Statesville, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Gordon Hospice House.

Born in Dade County, Florida on January 25, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Royce Lee Lazenby and Glenda Stamey Lazenby. She was raised in Gastonia, NC.

Rhonda was very devoted to her family. She homeschooled her daughters for the majority of their education and was very active with Iredell County Home Educators where she facilitated recreational activities for local homeschool children and families. Rhonda had a passion for dance and attended a dance school for a period of time. Her dream was to become a dance teacher. Rhonda loved the Lord and used her love of dance to facilitate a praise and worship dance group of which her daughters were heavily involved.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 35 years, Timothy Ruel Painter; daughters, Sara Beth Painter and Megan Painter Hasler (Daniel), all of Statesville; one sister, Denise Outen of Monroe, NC and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gordon Hospice House 2347 Simonton Road Statesville, NC 28625.

I met Rhonda when her family moved to the neighborhood when we were just 4 years old. It's funny that we were in school together all the way through high school, but we only ever had one class together. I'm thinking that may have been done on purpose, either by the teachers or possibly by our parents, because whenever the two of us were together there was A LOT of laughing and giggling going on! She was a great friend and we had great fun! I love her very much.

My heartfelt sympathies to you, Tim, and your family. May the Lord give you strength and comfort to bear through this tough time.

Rhonda, I remember when you guys met and started dating. Tim told me and I quote. "Scott mark my words... I'm going to marry that girl." The rest is history. We spent many weekends hanging out together and some vacations with the kids together. We love you and will truely miss you. So sorry we have not got together the last few years like we used to. RIP my friend!

Mom, I’m usually the one with the words. I don’t feel like I have the words this time. I just wanted to tell you again how much I love you and how much I’m going to miss you. I’m so glad that I was able to call you my mom. And I’m so proud of the person you helped me to become.
