Richard Warren Ashley

Born in Crisfield, Maryland on July 13, 1945, he was a son of the late Lillard Ashley and Irene Doyle Ashley. Mr. Ashley served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and was a retired self employed electrician who loved fishing, the ocean and traveling. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Ashley.

On March 25, 1989, he married the former Kimberly Jolly who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Mrs. April Ashley Miller and her husband, Craig, Mrs. Rikki Ashley Ober and her husband, Jeff, all of Statesville and Mrs. Amanda Ashley Cooper and her husband, Chad of Mocksville, along with grandchildren: Kyle Miller, Austin Miller, Randy Ober, Lizzie Ober, Will Miller and Brennley Cooper.

Additional survivors include a brother, Carl Ashley and his wife, Sue Ann of Statesville, two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Skinner and her husband, Ronnie of Allen, Maryland and Mrs. Jean Bozman of Westover, Maryland, his mother-in-law, Mrs. Blanche Jolly of the home and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his dog, Blueboy.

Services celebrating Mr. Ashley's life will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Hiddenite Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Huffman and Rev. Jim Justice officiating. He will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the Hiddenite Cemetery with full military rites presented by V.F.W. Post #5466.

Active Pallbearers will be: Steve and George Ashley, Coty Smith, Eric Brown, Neil Knight and Allen Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Mr. Ashley's Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 P.M. Wednesday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. At other times they will be assembled at the home. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.com.
