

Richard Kevin Phelan (Kevin), 56, of Clemmons and Lake Norman died Wednesday at his home on Lake Norman. Born in Hackensack, N.J. on October 10, 1956, he was a C.P.A and worked in finance for Reynolds American and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and his MBA from Wake Forest University. An avid sports fan, Kevin loved spending time at the lake with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edmund Phelan. He is survived by his wife, Susan Bowie Phelan; mother, Mary M. Phelan of Springfield, Va.; daughters Tracy Phelan Lathan and husband Toby Lathan of Raleigh, Colleen Phelan of New York, N.Y and Laura Phelan of Chicago, Ill.; son Myles Phillips of Clemmons; brothers Paul Phelan of Springfield, Va., Michael Phelan of Tinton Falls, N.J. and Brian Phelan of Charleston, S.C.; sisters Barbara Cafferky and Kathy Seeman, both of Fairfax, Va.; and grandchildren Tobin Webb Lathan and Sally Phelan Lathan of Raleigh.
Services celebrating Kevin's life will be held at the boardwalk at Catspaw on Lake Norman at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15. A gathering will be held after the service at the family home next to Catspaw, 272 Heronwood Road. Condolences may be sent online to the family at www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.com.
