

He was born April 29, 1934, in Shawver’s Mill, Virginia, and was the son of the late Luther Alfonso and Georgia Fox Kinser. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a 1957 graduate of Virginia Tech University. He was a retired regional sales manager with Southern States Co-op following 40 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on June 23, 1983, by his first wife, Mikel Wallace Kinser; and by a brother, James Alfonso Kinser.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Jill” Brown Kinser, whom he married on September 21, 1985; two sons, Scott (Ellen) Kinser of Cornelius and Robert (Kelly) Kinser, Jr. of Mechanicsville, Virginia; three step-children, Debi Garlock (Jim) Crowe of Halifax, Virginia, Neil Garlock (Gail Blackwelder) of Sanford, Florida, and Kathy Garlock (Sam Ingram) of Front Royal, Virginia; two sisters, Nancye Kinser (Merle) Howell and LaVonne Kinser, both of Tazewell, Virginia; two brothers, Edwin (Joanie) Kinser of Bent Mountain, Virginia, and Sam (Agnes) Kinser of Tazewell, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Madeline Kinser of Tazewell, Virginia; seven grandchildren, William Kinser, Jr., Julia Kinser, Cathryn Kinser, Emily Kinser, Meredith Kinser, Paige Kinser, and Hannah Kinser; and one great-grandchild, Hayden Kinser.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 13, 2015, at New Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Gay officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church immediately following the service.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, August 17, 2015, at Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Virginia.
