Ronald Ohma Thiess

Ronald Thiess, 66 of Statesville, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012. He was born October 17, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, son of the late Robert and Pearl Thiess. He graduated from Canoga Park High School in California in 1965 and was a boilerman in the U. S. Navy from 1965 to 1972, doing two tours in Vietnam. He worked in the hydraulic field 40 years, retiring in 2012. He was a member of Troutman Church of God. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, cooking and riding motorcycles.

Ronald is survived by his adoring wife Lorraine, whom he married in 1991. They resided in Chatsworth, California, until 2001 when they moved to Statesville. Also surviving are children; Kammie Larsen, Robert J. Thiess, Dale Shelton, Denise Kublank and Rob Shelton, grandchildren; Megan Murrell, Justin Murrell, Katy Thiess, Joey Pettit, Amanda Thornsberry, David and Daniel Shelton, and Kaleb Wilborn, along with his only sister Pat Sigmon of California.

Services celebrating Ronald’s life are scheduled for Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Westmoreland Chapel, with Rev. Connor Lambert officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Ronald Thiess.
