Ronnie Lee White

Ronnie Lee White, of the Union Grove/ Olin community, passed peacefully from this world to the next on Monday, July 30, 2018. He was born September 23, 1954, and was preceded in death by his mother Margret Hall White and father Clyde White. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Gerald White.

He is survived by two brothers; Gene White and Jimmy White (Andra). Also surviving is his large adopted family of staff and friends at the Elder Center of Statesville, his beloved “Day Home” for the past eight years, where he danced, laughed, sang, played and most of all was loved as he loved, and gave hugs to everybody.

Having been blessed with Down’s syndrome, he was able to live out his nearly 64 years thinking that everyone loved him as he loved everybody. His heart was not burdened with the trappings “normal” people suffer with, hate and the knowledge of evil. Today, he is in Heaven with our Mom and Dad and Gerald. And since the restrictions of his speech and thought are now gone, I am sure he has not stopped telling everybody all the things that were locked up in his mind during his time on Earth. And when he hugged Jesus for the first time I’m sure he said, “THANK YOU for the angels you sent to be the staff of the Elder Center.”

Funeral Services will be held at Union Grove United Methodist Church on Thursday August 2, 2018 at 2:00pm with Jimmy Kilby officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM in the Church Sanctuary.

We would like to thank the wonderful people from Hospice who made the last few days easier. In lieu of flowers we request that donations and thanks be sent to the Elder Center of Statesville.
