

He was born November 6, 1933, in Davie County and was the youngest and only son of the late Roy D. “Jack” Rumple, Sr. and Annie Mae Lindley Rumple. He attended Statesville Schools and retired from International Paper following 37 years of service. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church where he held several offices and was a handyman. He also enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved going to flea markets and listening to music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Atha Mae Duke Rumple on October 16, 2014; and also, his mother-in-law, Bessie Duke; and five sisters, Dorothy Lytton, Jackie Mowbry, Nadine Rector, Fern Crouch, and Wanda Williams.
He is survived by four daughters, Barbara (Ricky) Warren of Troutman, Tammy (Jonathan) Queen and Lisa (Dennis) White, both of Statesville and Dana (Kim) Meyer of Harmony; two sisters, Betty Threatte, of Statesville and Eva Joy Leonard of Catawba; four grandson; one granddaughter; two step-granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; and eight step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service celebrating Dan’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 3, 2015, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Revs. Doug Smith and Bill Pharr officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
