Ruby White Taylor, 97, of Statesville, died Wednesday evening at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on November 10, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Tom White and Mabel King White. Ruby was a private duty nurse having trained at Temple University in Philadelphia and opened her own rest home upon returning to Statesville after beginning her career in Philadelphia. She was affiliated with St. Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ava M. Taylor of the home, one brother, seven sisters, a nephew Franklin Roosevelt White and his wife, Bertha of Statesville and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Services celebrating Ruby's life will be conducted at 11:00 Saturday at the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Belmont Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at home.
