Ruth L. Elmore

She was born September 7, 1938, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late O.L. and Della Mattie Billings Lewis. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed to watch television.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on June 9, 2004, by her husband, the Rev. Lester Elmore, whom she married on March 20, 1971; a sister, Eunice Lewis; and a brother, Glenn Lewis.

Ruth is survived by three sons, Timothy Elmore (Francine), David Elmore (Rhonda), and Phillip Elmore (Joan), all of Statesville; six grandchildren, Daniel Elmore, Brian Elmore, Brennan Elmore, Nicholas Elmore, Crystal Kilby, and Cameron Elmore; a great-grandchild, Rayden Elmore; three sisters, Lois Miller (Bill), Carolyn Bottoms (Jerry), and Martha King (Jerry); and three brothers, Ray Lewis (Judy), David Lewis (Diane), and Jerry Lewis (Neva).

Funeral services celebrating Ruth’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 9, 2011, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
