Mr. Samuel Albert Sharpe Sr.

Mr. Samuel Albert Sharpe, Sr., 74, of 139 Appalachian Trail Lane, Statesville, died June 25, 2011 at the Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming unexpectedly. Born in Iredell County On April 30, 1937, he was a son of the late William Carl Sharpe and Kathryn Lillie Belle McLelland Sharpe. He was a truck driver for Gordon Iron and Metal and enjoyed fishing, dogs, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. On February 24, 1960, he married the former Betty Anthony who survives.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Lumsden and a great grandchild, Olivia Beaver.

Survivors include a son, Samuel Albert Sharpe, Jr. and his wife, Shelia of Statesville, a daughter, Peggy Robbins and her husband, Mark of Statesville, two brothers, Lonnie Sharpe(Shelby) of Statesville and Charles (Butch) Sharpe of Lynchburg, Va. and three sisters, Peggy Miller of Statesville, Viola Daniels (Grady) of Statesville and Kathryn Melton of Fletcher, N.C. along with six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Services celebrating Mr. Sharpe's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Scott McGraw officiating. Entombment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Tim Miller, Dennis Miller, Joe Montaigne, Dave Childers, Daniel Beaver and Donnie Stewart. The family will receive freinds Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will be assembled at the residence.
