

She was born July 24, 1927, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Robert Lawrence and Carrie Hester Blankenship Cowan. She was a devoted and faithful homemaker and a life-long member of Snow Creek United Methodist Church. She was a member of Grassy Knob Eastern Star, Fourth Creek DAR, Central Homemakers Club, Olin ECA, and the N.C. Central Grange. She was a charter member of the Field and Stream Garden Club and an active member of the Widow-to-Widows Group. She will always be remembered for her beautiful roses and her bountiful vegetable garden which she shared lovingly with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie H. Robertson whom she married on October 20, 1945; a son, William H. “Bill” Robertson; a step-grandson, Christopher Eudy; and three brothers, W.B. “Bill” (Rachel) Cowan, Jim (Dee) Cowan and Robert L. Cowan.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail (John) Henderson; a son, Wayne (Cheryl) Robertson; a daughter-in-law, Robin E. Robertson, all of Statesville; eight grandchildren, Rodney (Mykecha) Robertson, Beth (Brian) Perry, Kimberly (Bryan) Shoemaker, Maria Henderson, Kevin (Nicky) Robertson, Stephen Robertson, Jennifer Robertson, and William Robertson; and nine great-grandchildren, Baylee McKenzie, Kelsey Jones, Emma Robertson, Grayson Shoemaker, Ian Perry, Emma Bradshaw, Evan Perry, Ava Shoemaker, and Kaylie Robertson.
Funeral service celebrating Sarah’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Snow Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Harrill and the Rev. Joe Conley officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
