She was born October 3, 1923, in Iredell County, and was the daughter of the late Will and Gracie Denney Cooper Elmore. She was a retired inspector with Hedrick Manufacturing and an active member of New Bethany Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday school class and kept the nursery for many years. Stella especially enjoyed crocheting, crafts, canning, cooking, gardening, and taking care of her grandkids.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Cleo Little and T.F. Wilson; a sister, Florence Henson; and five brothers, George, Lee, Santford, and Herbert Elmore and an infant brother.
She is survived by her two daughters, Gladys Thompson (Ronny) and Hazel Boggs (Dan), both of Statesville; four grandchildren, Teresa Sherrill (Jonathon), Michael Thompson (Sherry), Dana Ponder (Adam), and Daniel Boggs, all of Statesville; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linnie Waugh of Statesville and Pearlie Mae Turner of Matthews; and a brother, R.C. Elmore of Statesville.
Funeral services celebrating Stella’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at New Bethany Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Mason, Jamie Fox, and Jonathon Sherrill officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 Wednesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will be at their respective homes.
