Thomas Hal Clarke

He was the son of the late Hal Wade and Nettie Miller Clarke of Statesville. After retiring as President & CEO of Globe Building Materials, Inc. in Whiting, IN, Tom moved to the Asheville area where he acted as interim President CEO of Eliada Home for Children, Asheville, NC for 2 years. Tom was the National President of Discover God’s Call Ministry. He served as VP Operations for the Foundation for Evangelism, Lake Junaluska, NC until he moved back to his homeplace in Statesville in 2009. He was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church, Statesville, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Wade Clarke.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Bell Clarke whom he married on April 30, 1955; two sons, Von Clarke (Laurie) of Athens, GA and Jon Clarke (Gail) of Suwanee, GA; a brother Edwin Clarke (Linda) of Statesville; a sister, Marianna Sloan (Stephen) of Douglasville, GA; and five grandchildren, Taylor, Hampton, Austin, Andrew and Samuel, all of Georgia.

Services celebrating Tom’s life will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, October 29, 2012, at Monticello United Methodist Church, 307 Island Ford Road, Statesville, NC. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Monday at the church prior to the service. Bishop Richard Looney and the Rev. Jill Rhinehart will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
