

Mrs. Virginia Dare Brooks Dudley, 74, of 117 Butterfield Lane, Statesville, died Tuesday morning, March 1st at her home. Born in Wilkes County on November 13, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John and Maie Livingston Brooks. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Mr. Lonnie D. Dudley, two daughters, Sarah Mae Dudley and Sheldia D. Harris, brothers, Ernie, Milton and Gene Brooks and sisters, Agnes Johnson and Maude Staley.
Virginia was retired from Asmo. She had an incredible "green thumb" and had the most beautiful flowers in town. She was a woman of great fortitude and enjoyed loving her grand and great grandchildren more than anything in the world. She was a very giving person and was named "Wawa" by her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Arlie D. Dudley , three daughters, Darlene D. McLain and her husband, Tony, Samantha D. Dudley and her husband, Mark Cash and Crystal D. Stewart and her husband, Johnny along with a son-in-law, Ricky J. Harris, all of Statesville. Also surviving are brothers, Bostain and Ralph Brooks and sisters, Thelma Johnson (Burl), Loree Hendren and Lena Wooten. Additional survivors include grandchildren: Kimberly H. Kennedy (Aaron), Daniel D. Dudley (Jessica), Amanda D. McLain, Matthew D. McLain (Kendra), Ashley B. Taylor (Dwayne), Benjamin B. McLain and Nikalous D. Dudley along with great grandchildren: Mallory Kennedy, Jameson Dudley, Madison Kennedy, Emma Grace Sheets, Maice Dudley and Jacob Corice and her faithfull companion, her dog, WeWe.
Services celebrating Virginia's life will be conducted at 11:00 Friday, March 4th at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Corbell officiating. Dale Hutchens and Jared Stewart will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service and burial will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville at 2:00 P.M. The family will be assembled at other times at the residence of the deceased.
