Vivian Isabel McCoy Christy

She was born August 19, 1923, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Perce and Carrie Murdock McCoy. She was a member of Knox Chapel United Methodist Church in Cleveland and a retired private duty nurse’s aide.

On October 9, 1975, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Kenneth Christy, whom she married on October 27, 1941. She was also preceded in death by a son, Marshall Kenneth Christy, Jr.; a granddaughter and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by four daughters, Wanda Akers of Taylorsville, Marsha (Lloyd) Van Bibber of Statesville, Joan (Leroy) Warren of Lincolnton and Patricia “Pat” Crews of Lakeland, FL; a son, Junius A. Christy of Cleveland, NC; a brother, Phillip (Carolyn) McCoy; six grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services celebrating Vivian’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Rich Manguson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
