Anna Flora Smith

Anna Flora Smith, 95, a resident of Mt. Sidney passed away on May 31, 2018.
Born August 31, 1922 in Augusta County, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Oda Shaver Flora. Anna was a lifelong member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, Weyers Cave. She was a homemaker and had previously worked at Westinghouse.
On September 5, 1942, she married Charles W. Smith, Jr. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2000. In addition to her husband of 58 years, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Smith Rogers; infant great-granddaughter, Jasmine Martin; and brothers, Leon, Hollis, Harold and Bruce Flora.
Survivors include her nine children: Barbara Glovier of Harrisonburg, Judy Ryman (Blaine) of Mt. Sidney, Martha Rowland (Donald) of Mechanicsville, Sylvester Smith (Barbara) of Rockingham, Joyce Smith Bradford of FL, Charles William Smith, III (Ruth) of Mt. Sidney, Catherine Wimer (Steve) of Mt. Sidney, Mary Martin (Bill) of McGaheysville, and Nancy Byers (Rick) of Grottoes; 17 grandchildren: Leigh Glovier, Eric Ryman, Richard Rowland, David Rowland, Norman Martin, Paul Martin, Verenta Trobaugh, Elizabeth Martin, Matthew Martin, Owen Wimer, Forrest Wimer, Algreatus Batton, Kyle Batton, Jessica Batton, Lisa Layne, Wendi Bradshaw and Steven Miller; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edgar Flora and Mark Flora (Nellie); as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Following a private burial in Thornrose Cemetery, a memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, 91 Valley Church Road, Weyers Cave. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at her home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anna’s memory to Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren.

We were blessed to have Anna come to a Williams family reunion a few years ago. She was such a gracious lady. The last time I spoke with her she was embroidering ; always busy. You were blessed to have this strong Christian woman in your lives this long. May God's peace and your memories give you comfort.
