Douglas was a unique individual, a matchless fan of his Washington Commanders, win or lose... A man who loved his family deeply, and who relished chatting with anyone near... A man who both coached and was a winning athlete in the Special Olympics... A man who traveled with his family to Mexico, Bermuda, Canada and other places, and who loved new experiences with family, particularly birthdays... A man who cared deeply for others, a man who trusted God and his family without question... A man who wanted to help anyone and everyone ... A man who cared, who laughed, who helped... Who loved to feed his birds and always professed his fondness for the Beach Boys. He was indeed a gift to his family and all he encountered.
Douglas is survived by his parents, Doug and Karen Cochran of Staunton; his sisters Christina Quinones of Midlothian, Virginia, and Kathleen Hausler of Milton, Georgia; 7 nephews and nieces, and a grand-nephew. Douglas lived in a group home in Richmond and enjoyed activities at day support, both operated by Smiles Like Yours, whose staff was like a second family for him.
