Frances "Maw Maw" Elizabeth Shull

Mrs. Shull was born in Staunton, VA on Feb. 4th, 1946, the daughter of the late Bryce and Bessie Grow.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Shull; her sisters, Betty Kennedy, Peggy Grow, and Mary Miller; and a brother, Tommy Grow.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Hairfield (Tom), Carolyn Roush (Jason), Beth Sprouse (Sam), Andrea Simmons (JR), and Beth Akens "Peachie". She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frances was a beloved aunt to several special nephews and nieces and leaves behind life-long friends Linda Painter and Dreama Hiner.

An avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Washington Redskins, she loved sports and her family. A lifelong Member of First Baptist Church in Staunton, where when younger, she was a member of the choir, and helped in the children’s nursery.

The family will be receiving family and friends on Friday, August 8th, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home in Staunton, Virginia.

Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Staunton at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 8th, 2025 with Pastor John Hamric officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bill, Conner, and Bradley Shull; Robbie and Marc Phelps, Kevin Via, Devon McManaway, and CJ Akens. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
